PENSHURST PLACE & GARDENS
The
family home of the Viscount de l’Isle since 1552, the
garden is a rare surviving example of Elizabethan design
with records dating back to 1346. Cost, including entrance
to house and gardens: £25.50 per person. Confirmation of
numbers required by Penshurst Place by 14th April.
Thursday 26th May
WAKEFIELD PLACE and LINDFIELD
Once
privately owned, the gardens are now under the stewardship
of Kew. See the Millennium Seed Bank. Leaving Wakehurst,
we visit the charming village of Lindfield. Cost,
including entrance fee: £25.00 per person. Cost for
National Trust members and Friends of Kew £19.50
(admission free on production of a valid membership card.

HEVER CASTLE & GARDENS
Hever
Castle – the home of Anne Boleyn – was built in 1270
with a Tudor manor house added by the Boleyn family around
1500. Bought by William Waldorf Astor in 1903, he restored
the interior and created the Rose and Tudor gardens. Cost,
including entrance fee: £26.50 per person. Confirmation
of numbers required by Hever Castle no later than 30th
May.
Tuesday 19th July
BRIGHTON
Visit
the Brighton Pavilion, the Aquarium, the Lanes, or relax
on the beach. Cost £20.00 per person. Closing date for
this outing 11th July.
Tuesday 9th August
ROMSEY
A
leisurely day to visit the Abbey founded in the 10th
Century. Broadlands, the home of the late Lord Mountbatten
of Burma, is open from 1pm onwards. Admission charges to
Broadlands to be advised. Cost - £19.50 per person.
Closing date for this outing is 2nd August.
Thursday 1st September
VINES, WINES AND RAILWAY LINES
Visit
Biddenden Vineyards for a ploughman’s lunch, a glass of
wine and a tour of the winery to see how wines and ciders
are produced. From Tenterden we take a train ride and
cream tea to Bodiam. Cost, including this all-inclusive
tour: £35.50 per person. Confirmation of numbers by 12th
August, earlier, if possible.
Tuesday 27th September
WINCHESTER
The
city of Alfred the Great containing many historical sites.
A good shopping centre! Cost £19.50 per person. Closing
date for this outing is 19th September.
Thursday, 20th October
SYON PARK & GARDENS
Syon
House is built on the site of a medieval abbey. Since 1604
it has remained the family home of the Dukes of
Northumberland. Complete the day by wandering around the
garden centre, the Butterfly House, the Reptile House or
the needlecraft centre, Cost, including entrance to house
and gardens: £23.50 per person. Confirmation of numbers
required no later than 3rd October.
